Technical questions
Yes. The cost of diving equipment is $10 per day.
10 and 12 liter steel cylinder and 11 liter cylinder- Nitrox
Yes. We offer Nitrox for Nitrox certified divers. We also offer Nitrox certification courses.
There are magnificent dive sites at many different depths. The most interesting spots are at 5 to 14 meters on average.
Diving questions
You do not need to do a full course, but you do need a Discover Scuba Diving course to be able to go diving. It includes one 2 hour session in the pool, the day before the trip, and a dive with your instructor. If you have previously completed a DSD course with another dive center, let us know. If it has been less than a year, you will most likely not have to do the whole course again, doing a shorter version of the pool training instead.
To go diving for the very first time you do not need to complete a full certification course. For first time divers we recommend Discover Scuba Diving (link). It includes one 2 hour session in the pool, the day before the trip, and a dive with your instructor. DSD is not a certification course, but it allows you to try diving for the first time. Afterwards, you can decide to do a full certification course.
No. You need to have at least basic swimming abilities to go diving. However, no advanced skills are necessary so if you have doubts as to whether you can or cannot swim- contact us. We will help you asses if your skills are suitable for diving.
Snorkeling questions
Yes. The ability to swim is not necessary for this activity. You can snorkel with a life jacket, assisted by a life ring and your guide. Note: your comfort levels in the water are an important factor so please make sure to inform us if you cannot swim.
Organizational questions
You can book anytime up to 6pm on the day prior to when you wish to join us for a trip. However, if you want to be certain that there is room for you on a particular date, it is best to book at least a couple of days in advance. In August and December, you might need to book up to 2 weeks in advance to guarantee a particular day.

We accept cash and credit cards. Please be aware that credit card transactions carry a 5% bank fee.
Bring a swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen. You can also bring a waterproof/underwater camera if you have one, but consult your guide/diving instructor before taking it into the water.
The trip is usually around 5 hours long from Dive Point to Dive Point.
The boat trip to the first dive/snorkeling site is usually around 20 minutes long. The trip to the second site is usually around 15 minutes long, but there is also a 30 minute surface interval during which you stay on the boat and are served snacks and tea.
Yes. Snorkeling and diving is available for children over 10 years of age.
Yes. We send out boats with divers and snorkelers, depending on the number of people and the clients’ preferences. Let us know that you want to be on one boat and we will do our best to arrange it.
For snorkeling, it is maximum 6 people per guide.
For diving, it is maximum 4 people per dive master/instructor.
Medical questions
Here (link) is a medical questionnaire you will need to fill out and sign when you go diving with us (certified divers do need to do this). If your answer to any of the questions is YES, you will need to see a diving doctor to make sure diving is safe for you. There is a diving specialist on the island, so let us know if you need to speak to him.
Yes. The chamber is in Matemwe, close to our dive center.
Yes. There are things you can do to mitigate/prevent seasickness. We recommend that on the day of the trip you only have a light breakfast, avoiding dairy and eggs. Once you arrive at Dive Point, let us know that you get seasick and we will provide you with seasickness tablets.
General questions
Diving in Zanzibar is good all year round, but sea conditions do vary from one season to another.
March / October-November
The best months to dive in Zanzibar. The weather is good, visibility excellent and the marine life as rich and varied as ever.
April – May
Rainy season in Zanzibar- underwater the conditions are great, but the surface can be rainy and windy.
June – September (Kusi – wind from the South)
A bit windy, but conditions are still good
December – February (Kaskazi – wind form the North)
December and January are the windiest months of the year so the boat trip can get choppy.

No. Mnemba Island is privately owned property and you can only visit it as a guest of the Mnemba Lodge. You are free to snorkel and dive on the corral reef surrounding it.
We are located 30-40 minutes away from Nungwi. We can help organize transportation for you. It costs $30 per car, per day. Alternatively, we could recommend Spanish Dancer Divers as a great dive center located in Nungwi closer to you.
