Padi Sidemount Course

Find a different way to wear your tanks with the PADI Sidemount Diver course. Take the pressure off of your back by wearing tanks to the side. This gives you more flexibility to move and moreover, enjoy your dive. Also, now you don’t have to walk or jump into to the dive site with your cylinders on your back. You can enter the water, just clip them on and go! Sidemount is a perfect alternative to regular recreational dive set ups as well as for technical diving.

Padi Tec Sidemount Course

The PADI Tec Sidemount Diver course is also part of PADI’s TecRec training program.  It is intended for two types of divers: recreational divers looking to transition to technical diving and existing Technical divers.

A practical session on equipment set up in addition to l confined water dive and four open water dives.

Duration: 3 days.

The PADI TecRec Tec Sidemount Diver course develops equipment-related motor skills and teaches use of sidemount in technical diving.

Course pre-requisites:

PADI Advanced Open Water diver or higher
30 or more logged dives
At least 18 years of age
A valid diving medical statement signed by a physician

Discover Technical Diving – PADI Discover Tec

Get a taste of Tec diving with the Discover Tec program. This includes tuition, equipment and underwater training by an experienced technical instructor. Whilst this is not a certification it can be credited towards the Tec 40 course.

If you have been wondering what technical diving is all about, then this short course is for you! In addition, you can choose between using sidemount or twinset technical configuration for the dive.

Discover what it feels like to wear tec equipment and the stability it gives you underwater. With this course you will learn some basic skills and safety rules. These will carry over to the Tec 40 course. The course covers dive briefings, equipment use and a dive up to 60 minutes. You will dive in shallow confined water (max 10m) while completing some basic skills.

Technical Diving – Padi Tec 40 Course

PADI Tec 40  is a bridge from PADI recreational courses to TecRec technical diving courses. Experience some of what technical diving has to offer whilst diving within recreational limits (40m).  Choose between using sidemount or twinset configuration for the course.

First you will learn and practice entry level Tec diving skills. These include twinset use, SMB deployment, valve shutdowns and the use of a single decompression cylinder. The course is an introduction to Tec before you make the larger commitment with the PADI Tec 45 and 50 courses.

On completion of the course you can use up to 50% O2 to accelerate deco stop times (10 minutes’ maximum decompression). You can dive to 40 metres in a sidemount or twinset technical configuration setup.

Duration: 2-3 days.

All diving takes place in the beautiful warm clear waters around Mnemba Atoll where even at the depth limit for the course, the water remains bright and clear!

The following PADI courses:

Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent)
Deep Diver (or equivalent) or 10 logged dives deeper than 30m/100 ft

Technical Diving – Padi Tec 45

The PADI Tec 45 continues where Tec 40 leaves off and takes your training as a technical diver further. There is the option to use sidemount or twinset technical configuration for the course.

On this course you will acquire the skills needed to dive to a maximum of 45 metres. You will learn how to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives. A single decompression cylinder containing any enriched air mix or 100% O2 will also be used. This allows you to accelerate or add conservatism to decompression stops. PADI Tec 45 also prepares you for responding to foreseeable technical diving emergencies. In addition you will learn the basic skills and procedures you will need as you move into deeper technical diving.

Upon course completion you can use up to 100% O2 to accelerate deco stop times and dive to 45m. You can do this using a sidemount or twinset technical configuration setup.

Duration: 2-3 days.

Technical Diving – Padi Tec 50

The PADI Tec 50 course is the last in the line of courses which will end your entry level Tec-diving training. Most importantly, it prepares you  for many exciting technical diving adventures. As with the other courses, you can choose between sidemount and twinset configuration.

This course will teach you howto complete decompression dives up to 50metres using 2 different decompression tanks. These will contain any enriched mix and 100% O2 for decompression. Often this will be 50% enriched air for decompression in one cylinder and 100% O2 in the other. Desktop decompression software will be used to create custom dive tables and plan dives. At the end of this course you will be certified to make technical decompression dives independently.

At the end of this course you will be able dive to 50m with two decompression cylinders using 100% O2. This can be with a sidemount or twinset setup.

Padi Enriched Air Gas Blender Course

The Enriched Air Gas Blender course teaches you to be a qualified gas blender. With this course you will be able to provide gas mixes to those certified to use the blends. The course includes explanations about the physical properties of oxygen. As oxygen has associated hazards, you will learn ho to handle it and about necessary cleaning equipment. Finally, you will learn the five methods of obtaining the desired enriched air nitrox mix.

Once you have finished the course you can mix any fill any enriched air nitrox blend up to 100%.
