Discover Tec Diving

Get a taste of Tec diving with the Discover Tec program. This includes tuition, equipment and underwater training by an experienced technical instructor. Whilst this is not a certification it can be credited towards the Tec 40 course.

If you have been wondering what technical diving is all about, then this short course is for you! You can choose between using sidemount or twinset technical configuration for the dive.

Image module

Experience what wearing Tec equipment feels like and how more stable you are underwater. You will also learn some basic skills and safety rules that can carry over to the Tec certification course. You will cover dive briefings, equipment use and one dive of up to 60 minutes’. This will be in shallow confined water (max 10m) while completing some basic skills.

Duration: half day

Course pre-requisites:

PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
10 logged dives
18 years old +

Price: 150$

includes all equipment hire and one dive on beautiful Mnemba Atoll.

Padi Tec 40 Course

The PADI Tec 40 course allows you to dive within the scope of recreational depth limits (40M). It is a bridge from PADI recreational courses to TecRec technical courses. It provides you with an opportunity to experience some of what technical diving has to offer. You can choose between using sidemount or twinset technical configuration for the course.

You will learn and practice entry level Tec diving skills, such as twinset use, SMB deployment, valve shutdowns and the use of a single decompression cylinder. The course introduces you to Tec diving without having to make the larger commitment (in terms of equipment, time and cost) of the PADI Tec 45 and 50 courses.

On completion of the course you can use up to 50% O2 to accelerate deco stop times (10 minutes’ maximum decompression). You can dive to 40 metres in a sidemount or twinset technical configuration setup.

Duration: 2-3 days.

All diving takes place in the beautiful warm clear waters around Mnemba Atoll where even at the depth limit for the course, the water remains bright and clear!

Course pre-requisites:

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
PADI Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent)
PADI Deep Diver (or equivalent) or 10 logged dives deeper than 30m/100 ft
18 years old +
Minimum 30 logged dives (10 of which dives on enriched air deeper than 18m/60 ft
Valid diving medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months

Price: 600$

includes equipment hire, nitrox deco gas mixes, PADI certification fee & manual

Padi Tec 45

The PADI Tec 45 continues where Tec 40 leaves off and takes your training as a Tec diver further. You can choose between using sidemount or twinset technical configuration for the course.

The Tec 45 course provides the skills needed to dive to 45 a maximum of 45 metres. It provides knowledge to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives. You will be able to use a single decompression cylinder containing any enriched air mix or 100% O2. This allows you to accelerate or add conservatism to decompression stops. The Tec 45 course also prepares you for responding to foreseeable technical diving emergencies. In addition you will learn the basic skills and procedures you will need as you move into deeper technical diving.
